Find out exactly how much gas your next road trip will cost — using real prices for your state.
Planning a road trip? Enter the distance and your car's MPG to see exactly how much gas will cost.
Divide your trip distance by your car's MPG to get gallons needed. Multiply gallons by the gas price in your area. For a 500-mile trip at 28 MPG with $3.50 gas: 500 ÷ 28 = 17.9 gallons × $3.50 = $62.50.
It depends on your MPG. A 25 MPG car needs 40 gallons. A 35 MPG car needs 28.6 gallons. A 50 MPG hybrid needs just 20 gallons — saving you $70+ at $3.50/gallon.
